It's easy to argue he is the most influential columnist of our times. The first NYT public editor had such a problem with Krugman's misstatements that he made it a central part of his farewell article. Both Dowd and Krugman have blogs that fisk them on a regular basis. "Dowdification" has entered the lexicon as a description for altered quotes. Herbert is just laughed at. I don't bother to post the constant fisks of Rich because nobody here pays any attention to him.
