You misunderstand the point. Us/them thinking is definitely not disagreeing about public policy positions. More power to such disagreements. Us/them thinking is ad hominem attacks on people with whom you disagree. Dowd and Krugman get tons of it. As for whether I'm left wing or not, it's clear from the thread that anyone to the left of the latest change of position from the Bush administration is considered left wing on this thread.
