Z, People don't do anything "in the name of atheism." That's sort of the point.

Exactly. Not much reason to be charitable, especially if you believe we're all just a product of "chance." Hence the reason why most charitable organizations out there are founded on religious principles.

And there's a big difference between helping people in the name of God and "saving" them.

Yep. One is for this life, the other is for eternity.
