ADS, Inc. Awarded $130 Million Specialty Equipment Prime Vendor Contract to Expedite Special Operational Equipment to DoD and Federal Civilian Agencies
VIRGINIA BEACH, Va.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Aug. 16, 2005--Today ADS, Inc. announced it was awarded a $130 million Special Operational Equipment Contract by the Department of Defense's (DoD) Defense Supply Center in Philadelphia. The contract enables ADS to use its unparalleled product expertise and cutting edge distribution operations to deliver needed gear to the Army, Navy, Air Force, Marine Corps and federal civilian agencies significantly faster than traditional DoD procurement processes.
The contract allows DoD and federal civilian agencies to use ADS to procure special operations equipment including products for personal protection, search and rescue operations, flight crew safety, deck crew safety, life saving, diving, and equipment for tactical operations. The contract, effective August 5, 2005, is a two-year contract with the option for five additional one-year extensions. If all contract options are exercised the total contract value could exceed $500 million.

With a 3-year total growth rate of over 6000% from 2001 through 2004, this award will continue to enhance ADS' rapid business growth. In response to the increased demand created by this contract award, ADS. is hiring 50 additional employees and will be relocating to a larger corporate headquarters facility and state-of-the-art distribution center this month in Virginia Beach, Va.
