Seriously I have played hi-lo poker since 1968 and never heard of that rule. Why would a good player in a sea of fish want it anyway? Anything that reduces luck factors is an advantage to the better player. Lowest hand wins period, takes out a whole bunch of luck.

Hopefully you can see why I always want straights and flushes to swing, with A2345 the lowest hand as well as a straight. I prefer to play hands that can win both ways. Best 3 card start is 234 in suit or A23 in suit but unsuited 742 is a better start than QQQ in my book. The latter I would toss nearly every time under the rules I am used to playing. To play the game is simple, only go low and as soon as you have two bad cards you fold. You aslo fold if you are beaten badly on the board by a couple of players.
76382 You have an 8 made but two strong players are showing A45 and A25 you are probably going to lose in the end since the best you are likely to come up with is a 76 low. Two strong chances that someone will end up with 75 low if indeed it is not already made. I would toss it if I had to call and one of those hands was yet to act. I would be call only if I was last to act and there were no raises.

In playing with fish you wait for hands that have a chance to win both ways and bet them very heavily. You get two bad cards and you move on. Perhaps that play will not win tournaments but it will kill about anything else IMO.

My favorite game is "big squeeze" 6 card stud hi-lo with a pich. The final pitch is optional. I like it because I get to bet or raise on two low cards. A2 A3 A4 or A5 is a perfect start and a great bet or raise. As noted KK is a toss and I have tossed those. I like it because there is an extra round of betting and there is skill involved in deciding whether or not to switch a card at the end. Ideally you position yourself to act last if possible. 2 cards bet, up card bet, up card bet, up card bet, up card bet. 2 cards down 4 cards up. Now you MAY stand pat or may switch a card. Switch an up card get an up card switch a hole card get hole card. One extra round of bets vs 7 card stud. A236A2 is decision time. Yuch you wanted a low card but not really a 2. That said Two pair aces up generally will win high but if you can act last you might change your mind and you will change your mind if someone catches trips in the air or the like. With that up, and there is someone with say three kings in the air betting you can raise and hopefully everone else drops. Now you can safely draw a card since the best he can have for low is KK***. Toss the 2 hope for an A and if all he has is KKK then AAA** wins high and AA*** low.

OK enough of cards.
