Yes it is weird. Maybe the cockpit drop down O2 didn't work but the cabin O2 did. But the cabin people didn't know that until it was too late. At that altitude you only have a minute before its too late.
If you have a large pressure breach it's going to get pretty cold pretty quick.
It's rare or I'd bring my own O2 bottle on board.

Then again they probably wouldn't allow a passenger to take it on board. There are always O2 tablets I guess.
