Ok, I think we do see things basically the same. What I would like to know is a rough estimate of advantage of being a reserve currency. The % paid to exchange currencies is low, on the order of what currencies fluctuate over a day or so. I'm less of the opinion than some others that it is the US military which keeps the USD as the worlds defacto reserve currency. I think that is best explained by market realities.

Some time ago I had a similar discussion, and my fear is that the USD coupled with the export dependant economies of the world is actually a dangerous compo, as it distorts a more clear headed view of things. Everyone continues status quo until the first crack, at which point everything implodes. You appear to be arguing the same way.
