What a chilling site...

The insanity grows and grows. I am almost to the point of just playing tennis, having dinner with friends, and getting on the boat when it comes.

When it isn't overt superstition it is almost as bad. The other day I spoke to a grandmaster level chess player (I played him only once and he managed a draw after I could not find my way through the end game). Anyway, I have enormous respect for this man and the manner in which he respects the principles of chess. But he is aging and spends much time in the casino--just killing time. We started to discuss blackjack and I realized that he was as superstitious and primitive as any fanatical believer in anything. I tried to explain to him that the anchorman or anyone else that draws or doesn't or comes or goes DOES change the cards but NOT the probability. But he was like a cave man. It surely makes one feel alone.

I don't know that it is worth caring about any of it any more. Certainly, blackjack is not important. But if master thinkers cannot comprehend the most basic logic, then why should we discuss war, religion, or human rights? I might just go to an island. To Hell with it all.

You enjoying the summer holidays?
