Eric-L ... Levy is probably bored to death watching the telecom sector just like Gottfried and MJ are, as well as myself. I have telecom stock in my portfolio just because I worked for Western Electric and AT&T Micro before retiring after over 35 years.

Besides losing a lot of bucks on LUCENT, I've been holding on to AT&T, Verizon, Bell South and some of the spin offs I've acquired in all those years. Been re-investing dividends for many years but I think that this year ends all that. I'll just take the dividends instead and invest that money somewhere else.

At my age I guess I'll just hold on to the stock until I pass and then it'll pass to my kids at whatever the present value may be then. In all the years I've been re-investing dividends and holding the stuff, with all the ups and downs and paper losses, my yearly returns are probably no better than about 3.5% APY over about 30 years. I could have done better putting the money in a passbook savings account.

I should have dumped it all at the end of 2000. Ah! Hindsight is a wonderful thing.
