re:"So what side of your conscience says Bush is a good president?"

The economy has a 5% unemployment rate despite being within 3 years of the biggest market crash in a lifetime. Because of Fed actions and the 2001 Tax cut, the recession of 2001 (in America) was more shallow than the recession that resulted from the Japanese market crash. Conventional wisdom was that a tax cut would not keep consumer spending up, the savings would instead be used by consumers to reduce debt - this turned out to be false. There have been about 13 recessions/depressions since 1929 only two have had peak unemployment rates lower than under Bush (1953-4, 1969-70) - and neither were triggered by a major financial market crash.

The Violent crime and property crime rates in the United States is lowest levels in over 30 years. Conventional wisdom claimed that due to the recession (and increased poverty), along with the baby boomlet, that violent crime would increase - this turned out to be false.

The SAT test scores of American High School Students have reversed direction, and are now at their higest levels since the late 60's despite greater participation of minorities and the poor.

Despite being involved in an international war al Qaeda (and a continuation of the war against Iraq), including a historic attack upon American civilians and historic loss of life, the restrictions on Civil rights under Bush have been less than: restrictions seen during the Cold War, restrictions on civil rights FDR imposed during World War 2, the restictions on civil rights Wilson imposed during World War One, or the restrictions on civil rights Lincoln imposed during the Civil War.

Do you really think if the U.S. leaves Iraq that Zarqawi (or bin Laden) would stop attacking the United States or Americans - before you answer, Zaqawi tried to blow up a Radisson (frequently used by Americans) Hotel in 1999 and in 2002 (before the invasion of Iraq) Zarqawi had an American Diplomat, (USAID dipomat)Laurence Foley killed?
