How open is the thread to those who criticize(?) / discuss the actions of past environmentalists?

I have a MAJOR gripe & would like thoughts on a sub-topic & help beating on Washington for a reversal by any who agree.

Did anyone else here ride the rotary valve two-cycle (street or street/trail) motorcycles of the 60's & early 70's and enjoy the MASSIVE MPG?? These gasoline mizers near all returned + 70MPG in around town use. Their current US absence is the result of well meaning but poorly directed environmentsl laws which looked only at visible smoke.
The laws were with-out the base reasoning that all internal combustion engines are little more than pumps which can pollute no more air than they can take in and exhaust! Thus a 6-15 c.i.d. engne will always polute less than one of 75-150 c.i.d.. The two-cycles always returned more hp per $ than any 4 cycle and at a much lower weight.

I well remember my 67 100cc Yamaha Trailmaster - 80MPG.

How much gasoline have we wasted by removal of these inexpensive methods of transportation?

I understand Aprilla of Italy and others are now working toward a return, but????
