Everyone's idea of what a patriotic spirit is differs. I don't believe that supporting the U.S.--or any country that you call home--when you believe it is doing something wrong or evil is patriotism at all. I believe patriotism includes challenging your country when you feel it has lost its way, and actively protesting what you believe is wrong. I don't really care who takes offense at my idea of patriotism. I have as much right to be patriotic in the way I see fit as any American. My ancestors have been here since about 1604, and include a bunch of revolutionary soldiers. I am American to the core, and believe this can be a much more noble country that leads the planet in the right way--towards peace and environmental sustainability--instead of towards violence and ruin.
