I brought my response to you here, Rough Gem, because I don't want to annoy the powers that be over at "Just the Facts, Ma'am."

"The fact that these convictions and beliefs are myriad, leads an outsider to naturally claim that if any particular religious belief is rationally based, then it ought to be possible for the holder of that belief to demonstrate the logical flaw in all conflicting religious beliefs when they claim reason as their justification."

Notice I said IF "any particular religious belief is rationally based"...etc.

You are speaking about "hope" and "faith" in some "eternal and complete justice of existence". Even if one feels it necessary to develop this "hope" and "faith" in eternal justice...it still does not speak to the issue of why a particular religion should be considered a more rational path to this goal. The Navaho, the Cherokee, the Nez Perces, the Jains, the Hindus--and thousands of other religious paradigms all had this hope and faith. But can any one of these thousands rationalize this "hope and faith"? Can any one of them give this belief in eternal justice a reasonable and rational basis? And as the dogmas which supply these various religious arguments are all different--it justifies the secondary question of "WHICH ONE flows from rational argument??

I am sure you are aware that people do far more than look in their heart for "self evidence". They argue and fight incessantly over which religion is the TRUE religion and which dogma is evidentiary.
