"They're not two different jobs. The latter is a subset of the former; same job.

"What job? The war on terror or the war in Iraq?"

Bill, if your idea of defeating terrorism is to continue fighting in Iraq against terrorists, nationalists and religious fanatics who can usually pick the manner, time and place of engagement and, in the process, force us to kill women and children and make martyrs of them as the David vs. Goliath fighters who take on our military, then yes, the latter is a subset of the former.

If, on the other hand, your idea of the job of fighting terrorism is to attack the ideas that fuel it instead of feeding them by getting bogged down in wars that drain our resources and never end, then we should stop playing into the hands of the terrorists in Iraq.

Because you can work as hard as you want at a stupid plan and never get the job done. Ed
