Yep, the Republicans constantly stated that as a reason for redistricting...

You mean the latest one? I thought it was because Texas has been voting Republican lately, by a solid margin, but the congressional representation was Democratic, again by a solid margin.

If that is the case, you can have a computer come up with the shapes of the districts, and it would always come closer (in numerical outcome) to the DeLay redistricting than to Democrat redistricting.

If you asked me, I am all for geometric shapes that are concentrated around their center of gravity.
