Shades Re: "ban foreign TV channels" I don't blame the Chinese a bit, as the stuff is mostly garbage anyway. The Chinese are practical and culturally conservative and don't want their children assaulted with the the junk media we have become accustomed to. Bully for the Chinese Culture Ministry!

In the Philippines I had a cable channel from the mainland and I really enjoyed it as it was an endless documentary of Chinese pig farms and pencil factories and the like, all very interesting stuff. Of course I didn't understand a word of it, but the video was great. As long as they have that why in the world do they need any more of the Ted Turner or Disney style junk?
