What is remotely 'ad hominem' about noting that if the Iraqis decide to have a civil war in spite of all US efforts to prevent and mediate it, then it is NOT 100% fault of the US? Are the Iraqis grown up people? Do they take their own decisions? Should they be responsible for their actions? Cole says no. You say it's an ad hominem attack to even say so.
