Ted, I'm not going to divide this country up between the "rich" and the "poor." From all walks of life, we do whatever we're called to do. For many, that involves military service. And it isn't just a "lower class" vs. "upper class" thing, or else Pat Tillman wouldn't have given up a successful NFL career to enlist. We can either honor their choice and their soundness of mind, or we can complain that they're crazy or they had no choice in the first place. I choose the former.

Honor their choice? There is no honor in getting killed. Pat Tilman was the rare exception in this war.......he had solid choices. Many of the people fighting do not have such good choices.......they are in the military either to get an education or to provide additional income to their families.

Besides, there is a bigger issue. Politicians must be held accountable for their actions. If they think a war is necessary, then they need to put their 'money' where their mouths are. You can have a volunteer army during peacetime but when you decide that war is necessary, then we go to a draft system where a member of their family must serve on his/her behalf. I can not think of a better way to make these people accountable to the best interests of the US.

As for JF's comments, I don't really mind his emotional outbursts, but his personal attacks on me were unprovoked. Start from his post that I constantly refer to and follow the thread backwards. Do you find any instance where I attacked JF personally? No? I simply shared my honest feelings, and his venom is the thanks I get.

By the way, his comments were indeed racist. Imagine if his comments were applied to African-Americans instead of Korean-Americans. The NAACP would be on top of him in no time.

Check it out with the ACLU........if his comments were racist, they will take it on. I don't think the case is very solid but then I am not an attorney.
