Gee Paret, can't you agree that both the left and the right don't seem to have a clue, but state the party line when it suits? I am not a "leftie". I used to be a middle of the road, fiscal conservative who voted for a lot of republicans. Can't find any left who seem to want to balance budgets, avoid nation-building and stand for progressive social programs when needed.

Why call names? I got a laugh out of tooeasy's list because the hypocrisy of the statements by the republicans back then is just too rich! Either you can support the troops without supporting the war, or you can't. Sean Hannity and Tom Delay seem to want it both ways. You can support the troops on SOME wars, without supporting the war. But it can't be done on Iraq.

Now, as to Iraq, gee..lots of people were wrong on both sides. Maybe is we just hadn't invaded and let the inspectors keep doing their thing, keep the no-fly zones, build some kind of intelligence (what did we have...zilch) and keep squeezing, who knows. Saddam wasn't threatening anyone and war was not the last resort at the time. JMHO
