I have received discount subscriptions offers from Newsweek just about every other week for a number of years, usually a "professional rate" of about $12 for 52 issues. The "best" bargain, though, is Business Week's offer of 52 weeks for $8.97.

Despite offers like that, and the nation's huge population increase since the 1960's, I imagine the weeklies have about the same circulation numbers as then. Like most daily newspapers, their influence on society is declining as well.
