Maurice Re: "World Tour" Sounds like you are having a good time. Did you fly across the country or drive? It can be fun either way.

The USA has a strong record on "free trade" especially back in the days of the various colonial/imperial systems of internal trade. The USA has also been the big promoter of free trade as an expression of American foreign policy ie. "China Open Door Policy" ect. when compared to the various trade policies of the European powers.

But our Constitution does not require us to be "free traders" or to engage in any system of tariffs and trade other than one which benefits the whole nation over any foreign entity. Personally, I don't beleive that "free trade" is altogether a good thing any more than "free love" would be a good thing carried beyond reason. I am a BIG believer in quotas and any trade barrier that gives my nation an advantage over another. I am a nationalist and frankly don't understand how anyone could not favor their own country over any other. To think otherwise is just illogical and self destructive.

What we Americans need to concentrate upon is Constitutional restoration and by that I mean a return to our practice of a generation ago and the absolute elimination of "judicial activism", that destructive bastard child of the New Deal. For us it is simple and if any imported European "ism's" pass the Constitutional test (none do) then we should consider them. If not they should be dismissed without consideration.

And Maurice, to enforce "international" air quality standards and the like international government is required, with police powers to enforce the regulations. To prevent that calamity we Americans keep our rifles "quietly resting" in our closets. It would't stop with "air quality" and you know it. We would need a UN army stationed there in NZ to make sure nobody abused a sheep. And UN "Forestry Police" to make sure you Kiwis didn't cut down too many trees.

Nope, I despise "internationalism" in all its forms. It is a great creeping danger but its days are numbered.
