Some very fine leadership is routinely sacrificed for the political agenda perceived by the Navy. I think that is tragic. One strand that goes back forever in all military history is the cowardice of intrenched leadership compared to the bravery and self-sacrifice of the NCO's and company grade officers. We just witnessed it during the Vietnam war, where no one would stand up to LBJ. We have promotions of several Flags being held up right now by Senators for political reasons. I read that the AF General who was running the AF Academy when the religious investigation was held has had his promotion stopped by the Senate and will have to retire out. The main reason they have gone after them for the last 20 years were gender charges.
