They also said the agreement was only reached under heavy pressure from our ambassador. There are still parts left undone so I guess they could revise it yet again, but this does not appear to be a good sign of things to come.

I've read in a few different places that polls of Iraqi society at-large show that the populace is less intensely religious and more socially "liberal" than the average legislator - I wonder if that will translate into "No" votes at the ballot box, if true.
