The Deal is Corel and the Corel bulls likes to brag at how quick they are at releasing an Update of each and every SW package every year versus MSFTs every 2 or 3 years. MSFT repsonded to their user feedback of not wanting updates every year, cuts down on Administration and training costs. Its a Corporate selling point.

What happened is Corel stuffed the channel and did not get enough sell through of older products. Since most everyone by the next 6-12 months is waiting for WP 8 instead of buying WP 7 or CDRAW 7 instead of CDRAW 6, instead of having to upgrade 6 mnths later. Initial sales of new products do well since everyone is waiting for them. But then Corel at some point has to WriteOff all the old SW that is not selling. You first see it in the discounts as they try and clean up the channel, I mentioned it early this year. Its finally caught up with COREL, the Discounts did little to dent the A/R.

Corel dropped the Ball. Can they pick it back up?

So where is the list of OEM Digital Camera deals for Corel PhotoShop? If Corel got any I have not seen their PR machine in action. Between Adobe and MGI it looks like they have lined up all the Top names.

Do all these polls by PCData and Computer Reseller News saying how well Corel is doing in the retail channel mean nothing? Is this just accounting BS? Is Corel not performing as well as it did in the previous quarter? Is it impossible to tell from their announcement?<<<
