I believe that Aretha Franklin and Led Zeppelin will be remembered for the next 50-100 years. I don't believe Green Day and Fatboy slim will achieve that honor.

You do realize that at 40, I was not around when Aretha had her "hits", right? I was a music buyer in the late 70s and 80s. Even I knew, as a college student in the late 80s that music was going downhill then. We started listening to 8 year old U2 albums at parties at Berkeley. 86/87 seemed to have been the turning point.
