If my hard drive crashes I take 2-3 minutes to reboot and tell the machine in its BIOS setup to boot from D: instead of C:. I am then up and running just the way I was whenever I last cloned C: to D:.

To clone my boot partition to another drive takes 5-10 minutes and the process can even run in the background.
