I find that whole concept somewhat elitist/snobbish. With the real estate boom, carpenters, plumbers, roofers, air conditioning technicians etc etc are all prospering. And they generally hirer assistants as they get busy. They may not be up on the latest software, but they do work hard, and I find them at least as deserving as the silicon valley techie types.
