No. Initially, North America was probably settled by the same people who settled Australia, maybe the same pre-Polynesians whose last remnants are the Hairy Ainu and maybe even some proto-Europeans. But when the Asians pushed across the land bridge between Alaska and Asia, they pushed all of those out, moving all the way down to the tip of South America. In fact, the natives of Tiera del Fuego show a lot of Australian Aborigine characteristics, although mixed with the Indians that came later.

The origins of the N&S American natives is still extremely controversial. The origins of the Native Americans is pretty much accepted, except for maybe the Native Americans themselves. But there is evidence that it was settled a very long time before they actually showed up. There was a huge technological difference between them and the ones already here, the large animals in N&S America didn't survive their arrival very long, something the earlier arrivals didn't manage to do. Now true, there were climatic changes going on at the same time, but the story around the globe is that the megafauna hangs on until those late Ice Age homo sapiens show up. Then they rapidly shuffle off this mortal coil...
