Well, Chrysler was bailed out, then paid that back. Then it was bought by a German company - so really only GM and Ford are left now as US auto companies, and both are not competitive.

Ford has lost the most market share since 2000 - almost 5 points I believe, GM 1 or so??

Toyota, Honda, and other Japanese makers have gained share.

It's the continuation of a very long-term trend. US automakers are not competitive, and continue to lose business.

But, GM is relying on large SUVs and trucks for all of it's money now - it makes zero on all US passenger cars sold - same as Ford. One wonders what happens when these large vehicles stop selling when gas hits $ 3.00 a gallon???
