Here's a story that amuses me.
Last night, somewhere in Texas (I think), near the Mexican border, a farmer/rancher caught something in one of his traps that he set to catch whoever or whatever was stealing his chickens, slaughtering them and eating their insides right on the kill site, literally sucking the life right out of 'em.
What he caught was bizarre. The "animal" has a head very similar to a rat's head, a long tail and powerful hind legs very similar to a kangaroo, and was hairless like a Mexican chihuahua. The story was on last night's news, and yes, they did show the "animal". They weren't just making the story up. The "animal", which could not be identified by local authorities or veterinarians, has been sent to a university laboratory for further study.
For those who might be interested in Mexican folklore, the "animal" very strongly resembles artists' depictions of what Mexicans have long referred to as "El Chupacabra". "El Chupacabra", in Mexican folklore, has been accused of breaking into Mexican dwellings, stealing and consuming food, and sucking the insides out of small animals and farm critters. At least that one version of how the legend of "El Chupacabra" has evolved over the years.
I swear I'm not making this up. The story was on last night's news. I can't find any news articles on it yet that are online.
