I have been a recreational gambler for many many years. I play at the various casinos, garage games with family and friends and recently "On line"

I have come to the conclusion that it takes an inordinate amount of luck to be a big winner, not skill.

let me qualify that....Texas hold em or 7 card stud.....

I play both a lot...I consider myself an expert player.

a very experienced expert...

the most common defeat I see in a game is where between 4 and 7 players are going at it with 3 or 4 experts and 2 or 3 newbies or at least "less than expert" players are in the game.

invariably a newbie or non expert will stay in the pot regardless of aggressive betting and hit the last card or the River in the case of "hold em" and have the best hand......

pure blind luck....

I have found that I do best in No limit games or High stake games where I can use money as a hammer to intimate or beat down my competition.....

I try to limit my playing to games where everyone is pretty experienced.......

the luckier I get the more I win....

my 2c worth....

Chuck
