owning a book ...still for me has its enchantments over reading them online .

I like Borders , though wished they'd have some that were a little more "funky", but they're nice ... No time ever going over to SF was without spending some time over in the old bookstores in Northbeach and practically grew up in Moes Shambala and Shakespears...Borders is just a grown up version of what some of the old bookstore formulas that began way back , when some owner decided to put in a couch and chair , have some coffee brewing and let people hang out all day . Great for students ....and the lecture halls they can become .

Lets hope we still partially remain "the Creature of the Books" , fascinated as we have been since we first learned to record & scribe things down . But the medium is changing , and life is just a "click away". Just look at the obesity statistics lately ....well in America anyways , pass the twinkies ...i mean latte & croissant ;-)

How much a mirror of ourselves is our literature as it evolved from record keeping or religious mystic secret lore and the "God mechanics" , to the great adventures , romance , philosophy ...the stirring oratory of the great politician or king or priest . The personal diaries of shy , sensitive females of brilliance ,and the lone wolfs like Hesse ...or the notorious Harlot/Actress who writes her memoirs with whom most of the famous slept and everybody wishes to read . Or the revolutionary . Everyone wants to write a book.

The times they are a' changin, and the medium is the message ... I'd be better off go hiking a mile than spending more time on the net today , hehe

;)
