But when senior Clinton advisor George Stephanopoulos publicly argued for the same kind of assassination policy in 1997, the press voiced no objection at all.

This focuses, as usual, on the party difference and ignores the salient differences. First of all, George S. is not a minister. What was shocking about what Robertson said was that it came from a minister. And secondly, George wasn't playing right into the hands of the enemy by saying it. Talk about throwing Chavez into the briar patch...

Lotsa people who are aghast at what Robertson said, including me, have no objecting to taking out either one of them.
