No experience with DATEK, David. I use etrade for penny and CDN stocks--$19.95 with no 5000 share max, and eschwab ($30/1000) for $10+ stocks. Etrade charges for RT quotes; eschwab credits a bunch to you for each order. $10/5000sh is immaterial IMO; 5000x 1/8 = $625--decide what you want (best execution?, live broker?, all markets?, research?) before picking. 3 other good ones are Brown&Co, Lombard, and Waterhouse (dropped it before it went web).
