On "Special Report", Fred Barnes just went off on the press and Cindy Sheehan (I'm paraphrasing slightly):
    She is entirely a creation of the mainstream press. She 
    has no moral authority. She has no political authority. 
    Why are they doing it? It’s August. They hate Bush. And 
    they’re using her as a mascot to attack him.
I agree with Barnes, but I think he's missing a big "why": The media thrive on exploiting emotion and conflict, and the Sheehan story serves that up consistently.
