Katrina now a Cat. 5 storm, with wind up to 175 mph.

This could be the big one that everyone feared would hit New Orleans.

If this hurricane scores a direct hit, or even close to the city, the devastation will be severe and extensive.

Of course, that is not to minimize the damage that will be done if it makes landfall elsewhere in the delta region. If I lived anywhere down there, I'd be in my car headed North.
