"As a basic strategy play, it has a negative expectation, ie, it is a money-loser in the long run."

I have read books that recommend both ways. I have also read BJ books wherein the author did not even understand the gambler's fallacy, and thought that the anchor was responsible for your winnings or losses! I don't agree that it is "clearly a bad move". Tell me why it is so clear?

As for counting. It was never a great strategy, IMO. I read Ken Uston's account and it was surely exciting. But I view those ups and downs as quintessential GAMBLING. It is reckless and dangerous, IMO.

What casino can you count cards at today for an expectation of profit? If they give you a one or two deck game they ALWAYS take something away...and they shuffle early. Card counting is the Dodo Bird of gambling. Don't even think about it.
