Gary Habermas is well known as a very conservative Christian apologist. His arguments have thoroughly countered by his critics. I find the responses of his critics to be persuasive.

As far as the historical accuracy of the NT, Northrop Frye said it best: "When the Bible is historically accurate, it is only accidently so: reporting was not of the slightest interest to its writers. They had a story to tell which could only be told by myth and metaphor: what they wrote became a source of vision rather than doctrine."
