Wrong. Vietnam was no threat to us at all. The whole domino theory assumed Vietnam cooperated with China and the Soviets but ignored the fact they were age-old enemies. Besides, the Soviets had no ambitions there. It turned out all our assumptions were false and misleading.

Once we left Vietnam we learnd that our worst fear (communism) was no worse a government that the corrupt South Vietnamese government we were defending. Both were dictatorships. So why was one worse than another? Vietnam today embraces capitalism as China does. Vietnam was never and has not been any threat to us whatsoever. The whole war was based on big lies, misunderstandings and mistakes. Watch the film "The Fog Of War" to see McNamara finally admit this before he dies.

Someday maybe Cheney or the like will admit the deceit of the Iraq War and energy gouging. Sometimes these people do confess before they die.

Yes my friend, sometimes our great leaders are dead wrong.
Especially Johnson, Nixon and Bush. Those were the three who were most wrong when it came to waging war. All were close friends of what is called Halliburton today. Halliburton, the company which loves war, especially quagmire wars. Their CEO is now running much our of foreign and military policy.
