The 07z satellite picture I have wobbles the eye
a little to the west again--you know, I think the
images I have may not map the lat and lon lines
accurately enough to judge the direction. Mapping
errors of a few miles can really distort how your
mind perceives motion. I haven't a clue now whether
it is moving just west or just east of due north.

Your track over Lake Bourgne may very well be
a better guess than mine, and you can argue
that if the eye, as wide as it is, tracks over
Lake Bourgne, that is essentially a direct hit
to New Orleans. I have only visited New Orleans
once--I remember very clearly a nice trip out
to a famous old former plantation house, with huge
moss covered oaks along each side of a long driveway.
What a shame this is.

This is of course the reality:
A HURRICANE WARNING IS IN EFFECT FOR THE NORTH CENTRAL
GULF COAST FROM MORGAN CITY LOUISIANA EASTWARD TO THE
ALABAMA/FLORIDA BORDER...INCLUDING THE CITY OF NEW ORLEANS
AND LAKE PONTCHARTRAIN. PREPARATIONS TO PROTECT LIFE AND
PROPERTY SHOULD BE RUSHED TO COMPLETION.
