I also have many large windows which were protected by storm shutters only, a joke.

I'm going to bit the bullet and have true thick wood solid shutters made. They'll be expensive, but if they prevent one episode of damage, they'll be worth it. They are aesthetically OK.

My roof should be Ok, every workman that goes into the attic says our house is the place he'd like to ride out a hurricane.

Won't make any difference if a tree falls on the joint.

We'll see.
