Jury duty is very stressful. You're locked in a room with people you don't know and don't like, and you have to come to an agreement. Nobody tells you a thing about how to go about it. It's completely up to you.

I thought of my jury duty as a civic obligation, and I valued the experience even though I didn't enjoy it. I was most impressed with the way the attorneys looked right at you as if you were the most important people in the world at that moment.

Even getting to a jury is hard, because they call out a huge pool and cull through them to get ones they like, which I think is an abomination. Where I served, the attorneys could dismiss an unlimited number for cause and quite a few "just because."

I had quite a lot of experience with teamwork, analysis, and decision making, and it was a shock to be thrown in with five other people who basically didn't want to be there.
