Pro....you're the perfect man to respond to this letter to my local newspaper.... Rigidity, dogma hinder modern life<b/> We liberal intellectuals have failed to recognize various religious philosophies can solve all our major national problems. Christian Science philosophy forbids interference in God's will by medical intervention. We could close down our hospitals and cease producing medicines, thus reducing the high cost of medical care. With the side benefit of more people dying, we could even re-stabilize Social Security. Since the Ten Commandments forbid killing, we could immediately pull our troops out of Iraq and close down military bases. By replacing the theory of evolution with creationism, we could reduce science to memorizing a few simple wacky ideas and not have to waste so much time on reasoning and so much money on education. Since the Bible prohibits usury, we could stone the chief executive officers of the finance industry and solve our national debt and our personal financial problems. The people of the Watchtower would ban the celebration of Christmas with Santa Claus, thus solving our separation of church from the state. Since oil is a byproduct of living matter, we could apply anti-abortion tactics of interfering with oil production so all former living matter would not be destroyed by fire in our engines and power plants. This approach would simultaneously solve our energy and environmental problems. We should be thankful to all those well-meaning religious dogmatists for such insight.
