I earned my $50 bonus on EmpirePoker this morning. This was the first one I earned totally using Omaha and Omaha 8. Nary a Hold Em went into this effort. I moved up in stakes this morning and discovered I should have been playing there for awhile.

I am still working on larger, longer time frame bonuses on PokerRoom and Paradise. Paradise's never expire, which means I play the others first and Paradise when I'm ahead of the race. But PokerRoom's are 60 days, so that's pretty long, too.

I've been doing the PokerRoom bonus totally with No Limit Hold Em tournaments. I seem to be spinning my wheels here. Lots of wins, lots of seconds and lots of losers. My stash looks like it's in a holding pattern.

I am going to do the rest of my Paradise Bonus with higher staked Omaha 8.

I've decided what I like about Omaha and Omaha 8. It is easy to lay down the second best hand. In Hold Em, I am constantly thinking, "shoot, I've got the second nuts flush. What are the odds he has the ace?" In Omaha, you just fold because you know he's got the damned one spot. There is almost no bluffing in Omaha, at least not by competent players. The good news is, there are plenty of incompetent players. You just wait until you get the nuts and you pick up a big pot. Otherwise, you fold early and often.
