Antoine's has seen better days. The food is not very good anymore and terribly expensive. But if I were a oenophilic looter, I don't think I could resist the wine cave. Perhaps one of the best in the world.

If one thing were to survive, my choice would be the camaraderie, spirit, and flair Galatoire's represents.

All possibly irrelevant now as the levee on Lake P. has a 200 foot breach. It will fall like a domino conga line while pumps are overwhelmed.

It will take a heroic effort to save that levee.

My home is Uptown, two blocks off St Charles and a block from Audubon Park. Yeah, yeah, maybe one of the best neighborhoods, and all indications are that there was no flooding there as we are quite high. Plus, I pay to have the catch basins kept clear, so flow was probably OK, but I suspect that the 9th ward is, like the Jeffersons, moving Uptown to that palace in the sky.
