there is no place immune from some type of force of nature calamity, but those who choose to live in the areas that have a demonstrated, quantifiable higher level of risk, should assume that risk themselves, not the US taxpayer...

additionally however, i think that as i stated in an earlier post, what we are seeing in new orleans is just as much a man made catastrophy as it is a force of nature...

this levee building (creating an UNNATURAL ENVIRONMENT) to allow placement of homes and business in flood plains has been policy for decades and for decades we have seen floods

i see it as proactive man made attempt to make an inhospitable environment 'safe'
