I would be getting my hands on as much bottled water as I could would be my biggest priority if I was stuck in one of those flooded areas. A gallon of bleach, an eye dropper and empty containers are sufficient for many many gallons of potable water. 16 drops of bleach purifies one gallon. Detailed instructions can be found at the Red Cross website or Chapter 8 of my book. I keep those supplies at home...replacing the bleach every year. I also keep a little bottle of 50 iodine tablets for water purification in my truck. Each tablet does one quart.
