So all the oil and gas workers should just go back to wherever they came from, shut down the oil rigs, shut down the oil refineries, shut down the petrochemical plants?

Oil workers live in Barrow, Alaska. Very few other people do. Provisions for workers in essential industries located in difficult areas have and will be made.

But people who build million dollar homes on barrier island sand dunes and expect taxpayers to bail them out and rebuild them every time they get destroyed get no sympathy from me. I feel sorry for all the folks (especially the poor) who've been decimated by this storm, but they all knew it was going to happen (as it has before and will again), sooner or later.

Hope your car gets 200 miles to the gallon, you're going to need it.

There's going to be a rough economic period ahead. How quickly it's alleviated will depend on a number of factors, not the least of which will be political decisions. Personally, I can survive with 4 or even 5 dollar a gallon gas, though I won't like it. Many can't...
