Wise words MM. There is absolutely no resentment attached to my relationship with my father. We were as close as a loving father and daughter could be. I am completely flummoxed by this memorial, and have three calls in to the person responsible for parks in Westport. So far I haven't received a reply. Will try again tomorrow.

I think you are right though. I hadn't given the planters along the walkway any notice, but for some reason I stopped and when I turned my head my eyes were in the line of sight of my Dad's name on that plaque. It was as if he took my chin and gently forced me to turn my head. I will never forget the overwhelming feeling I got as I reflect back on that moment. Nor will I forget the circumstances that led me to be aware of its existence. Ironically, the next plaque had a poem on it that I cut from a book years ago and sealed in an envelope addressed to my husband. I have it stored in the safe and included it in my instructions should he outlive me.
