...and providing subsidies to cash rich oil companies Which I oppose, but if your trying to actually achieve energy independence, subsidies for oil exploration do make some sense even if they would not be sufficient by themselves. Oil companies are motivated to explore for oil and nat. gas when prices are high. Oil at $70 and nat. gas at $11 is more than enough incentive. The oil bill subsidy is a worse giveaway then that given to farmers. I am surprised you are not shouting about this scam as you do with the farm subsidies. ted
